Trouble Shooting Caffewerks Water Pump Systems and accessories: 

 

No Water coming out of Machine or Rinser: 

  1. Check that the fresh water tank is full 
  2. Check that the pick up tube is fully immersed in the water 
  3. Check that there is nothing blocking the filter on the end of the pick up tube
  4. Double check the tubing between the water container and the pump is fully pressed into the fittings, sometimes these require a little extra effort to get into place. 
  5. If you cut the tubing down to your needed length, double check that your cuts are square (straight and not squished) 
  6. Remove any air from the system by activating the pitcher rinser until you have good flow. Additional steps below.

 

Pump cycling (turning on and off) or no water: 

If your pump won’t stop cycling (turning on and off) or is constantly running but you have no water at your espresso machine or rinser,  it means there is air in the system. This happens when the water tank is allowed to run dry or you have an air leak on the inlet side of the pump. You need to remove the air out of the system.

 

  1. If you have a pitcher rinser - activate the pitcher rinser, by pressing on the actuator plate to remove the air - you will know all the air is out when you have a solid stream of water 

 

  1. If no pitcher rinser -  Turn on the hot water tap of the espresso machine and run until the pump activates and changes tone and the pump shuts off

 

Additionally , if running out of water is a common issue and you do not have a rinser, you may consider the addition of a purge valve kit. You might even consider connecting two tanks together to increase water volume availability using our Dual Pickup Tube Connection Kit.

 

Flashing Lights on the 1.4 GPM Flojet Pump (Pre April 2023) :

 

If you have the Medium Volume Pump (Pre April 2023) and the light is flashing (on/off switch) you need to turn the pump off. This light indicates that there is no water available to the pump. 

  1. Check that your pick up tube is fully immersed in the water in the tank. 
  2. Make sure tubing is pressed firmly into fitting on the inlet side of the pump as well as the dip tube.
  3. Turn the pump back on.

 

If you have the 12v DC High Volume Pump (3.3 Flojet prior to April 2023), this flashing light is on the power supply and it may mean that the power supply needs to be replaced. Please reach out to us directly at info@caffewerks.com  

 

The Pump could be over cycling:

Over cycling is when the pump continuously tries to top off the pressure with short bursts of power.

The quickest remedy is to remove the check valve between the pump and accumulator. These are only on systems built before April of 2023 on the Flojet brand pumps. This will not cause any operational problems as the pump also has a built-in check valve. We have found that over time depending on water quality the check valve will weep water in a bypass situation. Removing and replacing the section of tubing will solve the problem.

 

Pick up tube Assembly and Installation (Pre Fall 2023)

  1. Remove strainer from bottom of pick up tube 
  2. Remove split ring cap retainer from tube
  3. Place pick up tube though center hole of water container cap (cap top should be facing up) 
  4. Bring cap to the top of the pick up tube, replace split ring cap retainer on the tube, under the cap.
  5. Press the strainer back onto the end of the check valve barb at the end of the pick up tube until fully seated. 

 

Pick up tube Assembly and Installation (Post Fall 2023)

 

  1. Remove split ring cap retainer from tube
  2. Place pick up tube though center hole of water container cap (cap top should be facing up) 
  3. Bring cap to the top of the pick up tube, replace split ring cap retainer on the tube, under the cap.

 

How to use Push Connectors:

Tubing should always be cut with a tubing cutter. If you are using our installation kits a tubing cutter is included with your kit.

 

 

Things to note: 


The Accumulator tank is listed as two gallons but holds 3/4 to 1 gallon and the other side is an air bladder with a preset volume of air. 


The 1.4 GPM pump has a duty cycle of 90 seconds and uses 60 of that to fill the accumulator. The effort to fill the tank extends the time slightly. The tank will depressurize before the next cycle of 60 seconds. 


 The Low volume system is louder than the high volume systems as it only utilizes one diaphragm to push the water whereas the high volume systems are in multiples of 4-5 diaphragm.
